Frequently Asked Questions

What are the the required uniforms?

A uniform consists of a reversible Springfield Soccer Association jersey: Home Team is always Blue. Away Team is always White. If you already have one that fits, you do not need a new one.  New jerseys can be bought at the concession stand for $20 cash, or a check payable to SSA.
Also required:  black shorts, black socks, and shin guards (worn under the socks). Soccer cleats are recommended but not required. Cleats for any other sport are not permitted. Any sporting goods store can help you pick out legal soccer cleats.
Players may not wear jewelry (including watches or earrings) or hard plastic hair pieces at any time.

Inclement Weather
There are only two times games or practices may be cancelled due to weather:  lightning or a closure of the park by the township.  If the township thinks the fields could be damaged due to rain, they will notify us and we will update the website to show the fields are closed.
We will not play or practice in lightning.  Homecoming Park is equipped with a lightning strike detector.  In the event the alarm goes off, all players, coaches, officials and spectators must seek shelter in their vehicles or under the shelter house until the "all clear" alarm sounds.  This will be 30 minutes after the last detected lightning strike.  In the even of a prolonged lightning delay (or anticipated delay), the games may be postponed or cancelled at the discretion of the board.

When can I sign my player up?
Registration for spring is always the full month of February, and registration for fall is always the full month of July, and you can register and pay online during those periods on the site.

How much does it cost?
Fees are $30 for U4 and U6, and $40 for U8 and above.  There is a $20 fee for a jersey, if needed.

How do I volunteer to help out?
When you are signing up your player, you will be prompted to volunteer to head or assistant coach.  We also sometimes ask for volunteers for others tasks such as field painting or concessions.  Please volunteer for anything you may be interested in!  Volunteers will need to pass a background check and--if coaching--complete a concussion training course.  As a head coach, your player (one) will play for free.
