SSA & SFC form exciting new partnership

Springfield Soccer Association (SSA) and Springfield FC (SFC) form exciting new partnership

Springfield FC is excited to introduce the Springfield FC Recreational Academy today following a merger with Springfield Soccer Association (SSA).  This is an exciting opportunity, combining two great clubs with amazing coaches, players, staffs, and resources to really ensure that all players have every opportunity to help them to be the best that they can be. The much larger player pool will provide more flexibility and continuity between travel and recreational soccer, creating the consistency, cohesion and unity needed to build a true soccer community in Springfield Township.

Springfield Soccer Association has served the area since 1986. SSA was a volunteer based program that emphasized fun for all participants; age appropriate development of players, formation of equally balanced teams, and a great first step for referees. The community owes a huge debt of gratitude to all the people, past and present, that volunteered countless hours to make SSA a staple of youth activity.

Competitive soccer was introduced in the Township in 2003 as GNAT. After many successful years the club decided to rebrand themselves as Springfield FC to show a commitment to the local area. SFC, which will now serve over 550 players between the ages of 3-14, has licensed and experienced coaches and administrators dedicated to providing an advanced soccer program for the children in the area. The goals of the soccer club are simple: to enable children of all ages to play competitive soccer at the highest level in a safe and positive environment. We want to develop well-rounded soccer players while teaching respect, humility, integrity, reward through effort, and fair play always. SFC wants its players to have fun and enjoy this beautiful game. With the addition of the Recreational Academy, we will strive to make sure that every player in our area, no matter how talented he or she may be, will be able to find suitable training and playing opportunities locally.

Springfield FC Recreational Academy will begin in Fall 2017. Both SFC and SSA will be working together over the next couple months in preparation for the fall season. This past year there have been many changes in youth soccer implemented by US Soccer.  As a result, the two organizations feel that this is the natural and obvious next step to provide the best method to deliver a great experience to all our players.  We are confident that this is the best decision for all involved.
